Basketcase...

This post is linked to the DIY Showoff Parade!!!

I love baskets! If you remember my laundry room entry then you recall that I LOVE baskets. Deep, deep LOVE. My hubs jokes that I would live in a basket if I could find one big enough. He isn't far off. I mean really. They hold everything, they are easy to move about, and they make clutter disappear behind a mask of beauty. What's not to love?!?! Wire, wicker, sea grass, wood, canvas. I don't discriminate. I adore all equally!

So, I decided that this guy (whom I met at Micheals one sunny, blessed, summer afternoon-on sale)....

...needed a big brother. I found one at Target that I liked. He was sea grass (I am not as crazy about sea grass baskets- they always smell funny...) but he did have a chalkboard on him that I liked. Okay, LOVED. I LOVE the idea of a chalkboard on a basket! I am a label freak. I label everything (my Nana is the same way. I come by it honestly. Don't judge.) Seriously, I am the kid that always got in trouble for writing on my stuff. Anyway, that is part of what attracted me to little brother up there. The chalkboard. I loved his red color too. My living room is accented in red. And I like expected things in unexpected colors. Like baskets.

I digress.... So I am on my way to Target to pick up a $40.00 basket that is just "okay" when it hits me- LOOK AT HOBLOB, DORK. So Ava and I change course, and the Honda is pointed straight to my favorite place- Hobby Lobby (you can read about this trip to Hobby Lobby in my previous post).

So I come home with this handsome fellow (for $20.00)....

And he was handsome in his natural brown. But a little boring. A little too Brad Pitt. I was going for more of a Johnny Depp. You know, gorgeous AND unique. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of Brad Pitt's at my house, and love them just as much. But I had something special, something very Depp like in mind. So with just about 15.00 worth of supplies...

This was my result....

Pretty darn stunning, I think!!!!

What about you? Do you have any baskets in your house you are thinking of transforming???
