Natural Birth...Are You Nuts?!!? :)

So as some of you know, the hubs and I are trying to start a family. We just started trying about 2 months or so ago, so no progress yet. But I have really been getting in "baby gear." Between the birth of our god daughter, my husband's cousin having a baby, my cousin's wife having a baby, and another one of my husband's cousins expecting, there has been baby mania in our lives! So I was watching a baby story on TLC this morning (although I can't watch the birth part...call me weak, but I just don't want to see that!!!) and this couple had done a "normal" (aka with drugs) birth with their first child, but she had some complications with the meds, so for her second, they decided on a natural birth. And OH MY WORD!!! She was freaking out!!! Now I have never wanted to have a natural birth. I don't do pain so well, and risk to the baby is pretty minimal from what my doctors tell me and from what I have read, so why not!!? And after seeing that...my mind is made up for sure!!!

Anybody had a natural childbirth and think differently? Let me know...I like to pre-plan, even if things don't go the way I anticipate. And that is usually how it happens. I think it's God's way of telling me that I can make all of the plans I want, but His plan is the only one that matters!!!

Well, all I can tell you is that I had one majorly painful contraction before I got my epidural and that was enough! I dont tolerate pain well either. After the epidural everything went so well, I didn't feel a thing. My left leg was numb for about 24 hours after the birth but it was so worth it!

Umm... Two of my friends have had traumatic natural childbirths. One ended up with a broken tailbone (yes, broken) and the other ended up with a fractured pelvis. No ma'am. No thank you.

I am doing the "let someone else give birth" method haha... ADOPTING.

I am totally the worst social worker ever... I've already gone off and applied to adopt. Sigh. I'm a sucker :)

I had epidurals with the first 3. My lateast edition ( who is less than 4 weeks old) I did without an epidural. I thought it was a great experience! I got a shot of staidol about the time the bad contractions started and it really helped. Get the epidural the first baby, but just read up on natural childbirth and don't be afraid to try it. You can get an epidural up until you are 9 cm. (by the way, I didn't scream or holler - not even a peep. Some people are REALLY dramatic)

I'm from the olden days.......and here to tell you IF we would have had the option...I WOULD have had drugs. My high pain tolerence saved me......but in this day and age, a woman must be crazy to say no to pain meds. My daughter and DIL both had epidurals, one did not last on DIL, but the other three times * 1 more for DIL, and two for daughter* they did great....I SAY GO FOR THE DRUGS.
